About Ship 202 〰️
History of Sea Scout ship 202 deja vu.
The Deja Vu was founded in 2003 and has been a shining example of seamanship and leadership in the Cascade Pacific Council. When the ship was founded, all of the ships moored at “Sea Base” on the Columbia River which was home to multiple units including Deja Vu. When Sea Base closed, Deja Vu moved their power vessel, Odyssey to Multnomah Yacht Harbor. This is where they are currently moored year- round.
During the time Deja Vu has been chartered, the unit has had six Skippers (including the current Skipper), nine scouts who earned Quartermaster rank, two youth who served on the National Quarterdeck. The youth and adults have earned a number of other awards, including the Sea Scout Leadership Award at both Council and Territory levels. Deja Vu was also named to the 2024 National Flagship Feet. This is a huge honor as only five ships are named to the fleet each year. In 2023, the crew was awarded the BSA National Medal of Merit for assisting in putting out a boat fire in the San Juan Islands while on their long cruise.
As a unit, Deja Vu is very active (See our calendar on the Upcoming Events page). Meetings are weekly and activities occur on weekends throughout the year. There are day and weekend cruises as well as one long cruise every summer, tours of maritime interests, boat work, Council events, and the highlight of our year, Regatta, which is a maritime skills competition.
Please reach out to inquire about our amazing program by either contacting us through our Skipper, Tanner Wilson or by completing the contact information form.
